Operation

Je suis à J+4 de l'opération. Je me sens bien. Je n'ai pas le wifi donc vous aurez ce poste rétroactivement, une fois que je serai rentrée dans le monde! Je vous fais une chronologie des 5 derniers jours car je suis arrivée à l'hôpital dimanche soir.

DIMANCHE, la veille de l'opération  

Ma tension était à 17/9! Pas étonnant. J'avais la trouille! En arrivant, sur la table de la chambre j'ai retrouvé un lavement. J'étais sensée le faire moi-même! J'avais beau essayé mais finalement j'ai appelé l'infirmier pour terminer "l'opération". Puis on me demande de me doucher avec de la Betadine, le soir et le lendemain matin. 

LUNDI J1

A 7h pétantes on vient me donner deux cachets pour me calmer avant l'opération. Franchement entre 7h et 9h45 je n'ai pas de souvenir de ce qui s'est passé. J'ai juste entendu quelqu'un dire que les opérations étaient toutes retardées car ils ouvraient le nouveau bloc opératoire. J'étais la première patiente. On m'a mis un masque avec de l'oxygène et prochaine étape, je suis en réanimation et il est 13h. Je n'avais pas mal du tout. Et je n'ai toujours pas vraiment mal. Quant au bas de contention personne ne me les a mises. 

Je suis restée longtemps en réanimation. Je suis retournée à la chambre vers 15h. L'opération avait duré une heure et quart. 

J'avais deux perfusions, une d'antibiotiques, et une deuxième de calmants. Aussi un tuyau qui s'appelle un redon sortant de l'incision. Ce tuyau va dans une bouteille et collecte le sang et les fluides qui coulent a l'intérieur de la plaie. Pendant les 4 jours il a drainé 27 cl. (Une grande tasse)

17h On me présente la bassine et même avec les calmants je sens que cela me fait mal derrière. Évidemment. En plus je n'arrive pas a faire pipi. On parle de sonde.

19h on me donne deux verres d'eau plus une injection d'anti coagulant.

19h30 le professeur Doursounian arrive et voit la bassine. "Mais elle ne peut pas utiliser cela, amenez-la au WC!"dit-il. 

Réussite spectaculaire et immédiate! Heureusement qu'il est passé me voir! La première nuit je me suis levée à 4h avec de l'aide, car j'avais l'oxygène sur le visage, les deux perfusions et le redon. Pas trop de difficulté et presque pas de douleur.

It is 4 days since the operation. I feel well. I haven't got wifi so you will get these posts days after the actual operation once I get back to the technological world. I took notes right through so what you read is exactly what happened from the Sunday evening when I arrived. 

SUNDAY, day before operation

My blood pressure measured 170/90! Not surprising. I was terrified. When I walked into the bedroom, there on the table was am enema. I was supposed to give it to myself! I tried but in the end called a nurse who finished it off for me. Then I was asked to shower with Betadine (the yellow staining stuff) that evening and the following morning.

MONDAY DAY 1

At 7am precisely, a nurse came to give me two tablets to calm me down before the operation. Pre-meds. Honestly between 7am and 9.45am I have no idea what happened. I just heard someone saying that all the operations were late because they were inaugurating a new operating block. I was its first patient. They put an oxygen mask on my face and next thing I know I was in the recovery room and it was 1pm. I had no pain whatsoever. I still don't have any real pain. As for the support stockings nobody put them on me. 

I stayed in the recovery room for a long time. I was wheeled back to the room around 3pm. The operation had lasted an hour and a quarter.

There were two drips, one with antibiotics and the other with painkillers and fluids. There was a drain too from the wound. The pipe from the interior of the wound drains blood and fluids into a bottle. Over four days it drained 27 centilitres.(a large mug)

5pm They came in with a bed pan. Even with the pain killers I could feel it touching the wound and it hurt. Added to that I couldn't go. They started talking about a catheter.

7pm Two glasses of water and an injection of anti-coagulant. 

7.30pm Professor Doursounian comes in and sees the bed pan. "She can't use that, take her to the toilet!" he said.

An immediate spectacular success! Thank goodness he came to see me! 

On the first night I got up with help as I had oxygen, the two drips, and the drain. Not too much difficulty amd hardly any pain at all.
